Coach Profile

Coach Susan is in her 7th year with HSA as coach of INTRO to HSA and JD1. She has been involved with swim coaching for over 40 years including the last 25 years in Huntsville. Coach Susan is a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, and also coaches ( loyal assistant to Arthur Fortin) for Huntsville High School. Susan helped lead the HHS boys team to state championships in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, and the girls team to top 5 finishes each year as well! Swimming: Susan began swimming in Mobile at age 5 with Spring Hill Swim Club, continuing through high school with City of Mobile Swim Association and McGill Toolen Catholic High School. Family: Susan lives in Huntsville with her husband Scott (former Valley Hill CC swimming legend) and their children Sally and Joe. Sally graduated (summa cum laude) from Auburn University in May if 2020 and will begin DPT ( physical therapy ) school at UAB in January of 2021. Joe will be a sophomore at Birmingham Southern College. He is a member of the conference winning swim team while pursing a degree in business. It should be noted Joe won the 500 free and the mile as a freshman at the 2019 conference meet, breaking the school records in the 1000 free and the mile.
